Going Global: Academic Libraries in the Age of Globalization
Defined as "to make worldwide in scope or application," globalization affects all aspects of society, including higher education. Universities are increasingly committed to providing global equity in higher education. Libraries and librarians are responding to this opportunity of increased multiculturalism on campuses with progressive and innovative library resources and services.
The Preconference Committee for the CARL Conference invites proposals from all CARL members and Interest Groups. Collaboration with or among CARL Interest Groups is highly encouraged. Pre-conferences are scheduled for:
- Wednesday (4/2) half day from 9am-12pm
- Wednesday (4/2) half day from 1-4pm
- Wednesday (4/2) full day from 9am-4pm
- Thursday (4/3) half day from 9am-12pm
All preconference proposals will be peer reviewed. The Preconference Committee may choose to conditionally accept proposals pending responses to suggested revisions and collaborations by the committee.
Proposals should contain the following information:
- Main contact person
- Working title of the pre-conference
- List of presenters
- Indicate affiliation/collaboration with Interest Group(s)
- Preferred time slot
- A summary of the program description (100-200 words)
- How it relates to the overall theme of the conference
- Expected learning outcomes
- Your target audience
- Audio/visual or computing/Internet needs
Proposals are due by: Friday June 15, 2007. Notification of accepted proposals will begin Monday, July 9, 2007.
