GIPIG South

Program Planning

August 30

California Institute of Technology

We will meet from 10-2 (we go out to lunch together from approximately 12-1). We are discussing several programs. One program will be on doing social sciences research using Government Publications (that will be our pre-conference at CARL Annual). A second program will cover effective and efficient searching of Census data (that will be next Spring). We are also discussing the possibility of a joint program with GIPIG North on tools and strategies for developing California Documents collections. We will also discuss our web page (not up yet, but coming soon), and other ways to carry out our educational / informational mission.

Meeting Location: Room 212 North Mudd Laboratory (Building 23 on campus map http://www.caltech.edu/map/ -- there's even a Yahoo!Maps link for personalized directions.)

Parking: Two hours free on California, Wilson, or San Pasqual Streets. You can park in any unmarked space in the parking structure on Wilson just north of San Pasqual, or in the surface lot at Wilson and Lura.

Getting to Caltech:

>From the south: Harbor Freeway to Pasadena Freeway, which dumps you out at the foot of Arroyo Parkway. Continue north to California. Right on California to Wilson (about 1.5 miles). Left on Wilson.

>From the San Fernando Valley: Ventura Freeway to Pasadena, where it runs into the Foothill Freeway (210, heading east.) Exit at Lake. South on Lake to California (about a mile.) Left on California to Wilson (2 blocks). Left on Wilson.
