Diversity Recruitment Summit for the Information Professions

It is our pleasure to invite you to the inaugural Diversity Recruitment Summit for the Information Professions, to be held from 8:00am-5:00pm in Moore Hall 100 at UCLA on Monday, September 18, 2006.

The Diversity Summit is designed to generate strategies and solutions for optimizing the recruitment of a diverse population into the library, archival and information professions. The Summit will look at recruiting and other issues related to the library workforce. Attendees and presenters will shape the discussion and the outcomes in response to trends in our profession such as recruiting new librarians to offset retirements, preparing a professional workforce reflective of changing demographics, and identifying future directions and emerging roles.

The target participants for the Summit include local and regional librarians, archivists, information professionals, information educators as well as career counselors and human resource experts.

Further information on the Summit, including directions and parking information, is online at http://isdiversity.gseis.ucla.edu/summit06

There is no registration fee to participate in the Summit, but space is limited. The deadline for registration has been extended to September 6, 2006.

Please join us as we explore solutions and strategies for shaping and nurturing the library workforce over the next decade and beyond.

Register early by filling out the attached Word form and email it as an attachment to:
