IV.        Continuing Business

A.         SCIL Works 2008

Please send suggestions for the SCIL Works 2008 theme to Dominique Turnbow.  Themes of past SCIL Works programs are listed on the SCIL website.  Dominique will be emailing the steering committee listserv with a list of common theme suggestions collected from SCIL program surveys.

B.             SCIL/DIAL CARL Pre-Conference

The CARL 2008 theme is Going Global: Academic Libraries in the Age of Globalization.  SCIL and DIAL volunteers, including vice-chair/chair-elect Dominique Turnbow, have begun planning a ½-day pre-conference proposal.  Possible topics for the pre-conference include: library instruction to international students and lesson planning for instruction to multi-cultural students.

C.             LOEX 2007 Planning

i.          Facilities:  Duffy Tweedy previewed a map of conference rooms that will be distributed to attendees.  Duffy arranged to have computer-savvy room monitors assigned to each conference room.

ii.          Program:  Amy Wallace previewed a mock-up of the attendee folder that will be distributed at registration.  The conference session schedule has been distributed to presenters.  The program is scheduled to balance sessions by theme, room requirements, and the attendee survey results.
Sponsorship:  CSA generously donated $250 to cover the cost of breakfast for the Saturday panel participants.  CARL generously donated $1800 to be used toward the speaker fee for the Friday morning plenary.

iii.         Communications:  Tracey Mayfield verified that there will be no transportation arranged by the Bahia, SCIL or LOEX between the Catamaran and the conference.  A message board may be posted at the Catamaran to facilitate attendee arrangements for walking buddies or carpools.  The walk from the Catamaran to the Bahia is approximately 1mi and does not require attendees to walk along the street.  Emails have been sent advising attendees of likely weather conditions.  The schedule of Registration Desk coverage has been distributed.  The table will be open Thursday 1-7pm, Friday 7am-4pm, and Saturday 7am-2pm.
