ABLE-N

Officers:	Barbara Butler, Sonoma State, Chair; Sharmon Kenyon, 
Humboldt State, Co-Chair. Other active members, planner: Wendy Diamond, 
UC-Chico, Suzanne Sweeney, Stanford.

Programs:	Tour of Business Library at UC Berkeley, Friday, June 2, 
combined with a planning/business meeting.

Notes:	This interest group had not been active until spring, when 
B. Butler and S. Kenyon agreed to take on leading roles in contacting 
others and in planning. The June meeting was for the purpose of planning 
future activities. 

A small group (6) of ABLE members had dinner in San Francisco on 
Friday, October 20 (at CARL conference).
		
B. Butler will remain as ABLE-N Chairperson for the next year. A 
spring program, not fully planned, may be a tour of a business library 
at Stanford or a special library in San Francisco.

Officers:	Paula Popma, U of Santa Clara, Chair. Other active members, 
planners: Carl Bengston, Dominican College; Charlotte Rubens, UCB; 
Alice Whistler, U Santa Clara; Judy Clarence, CSU-Hayward.
	
Programs: Lighten Up: Humor in Library Management, Or, That's Not Funny!
Santa Clara University, March 21, 1995. 16 paid registrants. 

Speakers: Pauline Kelzer and Linda Dobb.
	
Notes:	Planning meeting, for next year's programs or activities is 
scheduled for December 6 at CSU Hayward Library. This group continues 
its consistent pattern of offering one program per year, usually in the 
spring.
	
CARLDIG-N

Officers: Donna Pontau, San Jose State University, Chair. Other members 
active in planning: Dana Edwards, Jeanne Fong.

Programs: None held this year.

Notes: This interest group was dormant until mid-year, when Donna Pontau 
assembled a planning group that begin to brainstorm for program topics, 
speakers, and cosponsorship with other Interest Groups. Planning meetings 
were held on May 19 and July 14.

One program is planned: CARLDIG will co-sponsor a program on Friday, 
April 26 at CSU-Monterey Bay. The speakers will be Monterey Bay Librarians, Janie Silveria, Steve Watkins, and Eddy Hogan. They will discuss their first-year experiences with a new virtually-prone library on a new campus--and perhaps give insights on how reference services may be changing in this new environment which might be applicable to those of us in more "traditional" environments.

CARLDIG members met with CSUL members for dinner in San Francisco on 
Friday evening, October 20 (at CARL conference).

Officers: Lorene Sisson, SJSU, President (assumed role after Linda Dobb 
left the state. Raye Lynn Thomas, Sonoma State U., Secretary/Treasurer.
	
Programs:	None. With the midyear change of leadership, early plans for a fall program were scuttled. One program for next year is planned, in co-sponsorship with CARLDIG, April 26 (see above.) CSUL members met with CARLDIG members in San Francisco for a dinner on Friday evening, October 20 (at CARL conference).
