Diversity In Academic Libraries (DIAL) Tour

DIAL invites all CARL members and friends to attend this truly multicultural exhibit and guided tour at the JANM.  This major exhibit in downtown LA highlights the many ethnic communities that have made Boyle Heights their home over the last century including Japanese Americans, Chicanos and Jews .  The Boyle Heights Project is one facet of the National Museum's efforts and extends across disciplinary, generational, ethnic, and religious lines.   Don’t miss it!

The Power of Place: Boyle Heights Project
Japanese American National Museum

Through the stories of past and present Boyle Heights (Los Angeles) residents, this exhibition explores how the experiences and memories of many generations of Angelenos intersect in this powerful place.

The exhibition features materials—photographs, artifacts, artwork, moving images, and oral histories—collected over the past two years in community forums, collection days, and through oral history interviews. These materials are organized to highlight selected events, themes, and places that demonstrate how people's lives intersect in the neighborhood.

Visit the public website to learn more about the exhibit, or the academic website for research materials and partnership information.
