The mission of The California Academic and Research Libraries Diversity in Academic Libraries (DIAL) Interest Group is to promote equality and racial/ethnic diversity within the library profession as a whole and specifically within academic libraries. This commitment will be reflected in the efforts of the Interest Group in the following areas: 1) the recruitment, retention, and advancement of underrepresented people of color to the library profession in general and to academic libraries specifically; 2) the sponsoring of educational efforts to heighten racial/ethnic sensitivity within academic libraries, and 3) to ensure that the association's organization, strategic plans, standards, programs, and activities reflect the interests of equity for traditionally underserved populations in academic libraries.
