Guided Tour of the Getty Center

Join CSUL for a memorable afternoon at the brand new Getty Center! Take a short, guided tour of the Center, indulge in a lavish afternoon tea, then spend as much time as you like until closing exploring the Central Garden designed by artist Robert Irwin, the five two-story galleries filled with the treasures of the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Research Institute with exhibits of rare books and archival materials, and the gift shop.

Day:     Friday, February 27, 1998

Itinerary:     Arrive at 1:30 p.m.
Meet on the right side of the museum entrance for tour of
the Center at 2 p.m.
Meet at the cafe for tea 3:30 - 4:30.
The Getty Center closes at 9 p.m.

Menu:     Regular and herbal teas, plus sodas.
Scones, English and Irish tea breads with Devonshire cream
and jam.
Assorted sandwiches (smoked salmon, egg and chive, ham and
asparagus, herbed cream cheese and cucumber with watercress)
Fruit tarts, strawberries and cream, raspberry mousse cup,
eclairs, pear puffs and Sacher torte.

Directions:     Take 405 to the Getty Center Drive exit (it's north of Sunset Blvd.). The Getty Center is west of 405.

Cost:     CARL members--$25 per person. Non-members--$30 per person.

Parking:     Free, but only 25 parking spots available, therefore we are only able to accept a maximum of 30 people and carpooling is advised.
