Full-Time Faculty Librarian, Student Success, Victor Valley College

This position is a 10 month tenure track position, start date is Fall 2022. The ideal candidate is someone who is interested in working in a diverse student-centered learning organization and also enjoys working in a collaborative team environment.


  • Provide reference services, teach information literacy instruction and give workshops to educate students about effective library research.
  • Use a variety of current technologies to develop and deliver library instruction and services, such as online research guides and tutorials.
  • Advocate for adoption of open educational resources (OER) to promote student learning, equity and success.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with the campus community to promote library resources and foster awareness about ways the library can serve as an essential partner in facilitating student success.
  • Participate in outreach to foster students’ sense of belonging and inclusion and to connect students with library resources to promote equity and success.
  • Participate in collection development activities for the evaluation, selection and deselection of print, media and electronic information resources that promote learning success for a diverse student population.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in working with students and staff of diverse racial, ethnic, academic and socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation, and disabilities by showing respect for difference and the dignity of others.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment to ensure student, faculty and department success.
  • Experience providing reference services and information literacy instruction in an academic or other library.
  • Strong commitment to cultural competency, diversity, inclusion and experience working in a collaborative environment with a broad range of students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Awareness of community college initiatives that supports student success.


Initial salary placement ranges from $55,714 to $87,247, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $116,888. A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s in library science, library and information science, or the equivalent.
