Library Aide I/II

The City of Arcadia is seeking enthusiastic, motivated and service-oriented individuals to perform a wide variety of routine, technical, and clerical duties in support of various sections of the library.

Responsibilities of each Position:
Library Aide I – Under immediate supervision:
-Sorts and shelves books, and other materials alphabetically and numerically for different sections, which includes Adult, Teen and Children; straightening shelves and loose books.
-Shelves magazines and newspapers for reference and circulation.
-Operates office machines, provides customer service by assisting patrons.
-May include assisting supervisor with ongoing projects in various sections of the library.
-Pick up and delivers library materials from bins to library.
-Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Library Aide II – Under general supervision:
-Checks in and checks out books and other library materials; assists, registers patrons and issues library cards; collects fines and processes transactions.
-Provide customer service by assisting patrons with use of computers and related equipment, including copiers, scanner and printers.
-Maintain equipment by providing basic-level troubleshooting, re-supplying and cleaning. Report technical problems to appropriate library personnel.
-Assist patrons with use of software, particularly automated computer reservation   system, Microsoft Office programs, and various interactive online forms.
-Enforce City policies, rules and regulations.
-Train volunteers for computer assistance.
-Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Arcadia Public Library is open Monday through Saturday. Hours for this position are fifteen (15) hours per week, including evenings and Saturdays.

Library Aide I: No experience is required.
Library Aide II: One (1) year of experience as a Library Aide.
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade or current enrollment in high school.
