Medical Librarian – full time, Orange, CA

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision from the Library Manager, this position has responsibility for the library’s technical services including the maintenance and renewal of electronic databases and journals, updating and maintaining the library’s website, and collaborating with IS to ensure access to library resources on various organizational platforms.  Other responsibilities include library outreach, orientation and instruction – both in person and virtually.  This position also provides reference services, literature searches and document delivery to a wide range of library clients.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Library and Information Science

Minimum Experience

  • One year professional librarian experience in an academic, research or health science library
  • Recent MLIS grads will be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years professional librarian experience in a health sciences library
  • Membership in the Medical Library Association’s Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP)
  • Active membership in professional library organizations


  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to represent the library effectively and positively to diverse stakeholders
  • Knowledge of and interest in new and emerging technologies for the library
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and experience providing group and individual instruction
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
