The University of California, Berkeley Library seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and user-oriented colleague as the Data Services Librarian. This position will help develop, lead, and coordinate a robust suite of data services that serve to bolster student and faculty research through the discovery, curation, management, analysis, preservation, and visualization of data to meet curricular and research needs on campus.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Digital Initiatives and Information Technology, this position will coordinate, implement, assess, provide outreach for, and enhance the Library’s data services program. The Library’s data services program partners with UC Berkeley faculty, researchers, and students to support the discovery, acquisition, organization, management, and curation of data. It provides a range of services such as advising researchers on the creation of data management plans, helping researchers find data, data publishing, and data-related consultations and workshops. The Data Services Librarian will work across the libraries to advance and deliver data services that support faculty and students engaged in data-intensive research projects. Internally, the Data Services Librarian will collaborate in leading and providing guidance for enhancing data skills among library staff. In collaboration with other librarians, the position will also provide guidance and partnership to students through data programs and other library initiatives in the Center for Connected Learning (CCL). This position will actively collaborate with library colleagues to promote and integrate data services and data literacy into library instruction across multiple disciplines.

Departmental Overview

The Acquisitions Department supports the ordering and receiving of library materials for the University Libraries at the University of California, Berkeley. This position exists within the Electronic Resources Unit of the Acquisitions Department and functions as the Specialist responsible for establishing and maintaining access of all e-book packages, electronic databases, streaming media, and electronic journals for the Library. This position manages changes in access points to e-resources, updates holdings, checks links, updates IP addresses, informs LSO and CMS of cataloging and MARC record loading issues. Work also includes maintaining the Library’s SFX, EDS, EZproxy and database A-Z instances, and maintaining e-resource licensing and financial data in the eresources database. It also collects usage statistics to support collection analysis.

The UCLA Library seeks a collaborative, motivated, and knowledgeable Community Engagement Librarian to support the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) All of Us National Program in the Pacific Southwest Region (PSR).

The NNLM is funded through a cooperative agreement (grant) with the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The Regional Medical Library (RML) functions administratively as a division of the UCLA Library. The mission of the NNLM is to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public health, by providing equal access to biomedical information to all U.S. health professionals and by improving the public’s access to health information. The Pacific Southwest Region of the NNLM includes Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and U.S. Territories in the Pacific. The RML facilitates resource sharing and cooperative projects among a network of nearly 600 libraries in this region, including academic medical libraries, hospital and healthcare organization libraries, and a growing number of public libraries with consumer health collections. The NNLM staff provides outreach programs including exhibits at conferences, classes in health information access, referrals to network libraries, and demonstrations of NLM databases and resources, including PubMed/MEDLINE, MedlinePlus, and
