CSUN’s University Library is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Special Collections & Archives Librarian to join a collaborative team in the Special Collections & Archives unit. The successful candidate will provide reference services, research assistance, and information literacy instruction for Special Collections & Archives to students, faculty, and the broader scholarly community. They will participate in selection and acquisition of unique and primary materials, cultivate donors, and develop grant proposals to obtain funding for collaborative projects. The selected candidate will develop and implement Special Collections & Archives projects, especially for outreach and improving access to collections. They will promote, publicize, and expand awareness of collections, maintain productive relationships across campus, and create and nurture ties with the community. The successful candidate will serve on department, college, and university committees and participate in shared governance of the library faculty. The Special Collections & Archives Librarian works closely with the Head of Special Collections & Archives and others in the unit.

Job Summary

  • Identify, assess, and evaluate maintenance and building issues. Report, track, and respond to requests and work orders for facilities issues in a timely, professional and efficient manner
  • Serve as the primary contact for all library employees, building partners, and third-party vendors for building related issues, reporting and tracking them through established processes
  • Perform basic maintenance as needed, including relocation/reset of furniture and essential maintenance and upkeep
  • Coordinate processing and removal of surplus furniture and equipment for the library and library partners
  • Proactively identify and respond to potential building maintenance needs and issues
  • Communicate with facilities and custodial staff for maintenance and custodial concerns, following up and escalating appropriately when needed
  • Escalate safety concerns and issues to supervisor and/or library management as appropriate
  • Serve as a part of the Building Emergency Response Coordinators (BERC) for the library. Maintain familiarity with evacuation plan for the building. Assist with evacuation of the building during emergencies or emergency drills. In the event of emergency, assist with providing a calm but focused direction that instills patrons with confidence that an emergency will be handled with efficiency and professionalism
  • Serve as the library’s representative for building/facilities-related matters with library
  • partners, custodial services/facilities and third-party vendors, providing a high level of customer service and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Work closely with staff in Library Administration on facilities and building issues, also providing support for the event coordinator to efficiently and appropriately set up for events and assist with take down and clean up
  • Assist other library employees with facilities/building-related issues, including preparation and operation of their spaces to ensure safety and comfort

The Claremont Colleges Library seeks a collaborative and learner-centered Arts & Humanities Librarian with subject responsibilities in Music, and Performing Arts (Dance and Theater) taught across The Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges and two graduate universities. Other relevant subject areas may be assigned depending on the background and interests of the successful candidate, as well as the needs of the organization.

Reporting to the Director of Research, Teaching, and User Services, the incumbent will teach discipline-specific information and primary source literacy sessions (including digital and scholarly communication literacies); conduct strategic and targeted departmental outreach; provide general and specialized research consultations; and participate in collection development activities for both the general collection and Special Collections.
