Energy
and engagement characterize most of our best work, but there are common
frustrations shared by teaching librarians who must confront outdated
methods. Challenging the boundaries created by tradition,
routine, and past practice, however, can actually energize us to
innovate, create, and stay fresh. Have you ever been asked
why you don’t teach students Library of Congress Subject
Headings? Have you ever been told by your colleagues that your idea
simply won’t work on your campus? Are your students
down-and-out and you feel like nothing would pull them out of the funk?
SCIL Works 2011 focused on these issues.
