Welcome to The Claremont Colleges!

Claremont McKenna College (CMC), one of the seven independent academic institutions that make up The Claremont Colleges, and the Libraries of The Claremont Colleges will host the California Regional Immersion '04. Take an online campus tour of CMC or visit the Libraries' web site.

The Claremont Colleges are located in the city of Claremont, on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, approximately 35 miles from the city of Los Angeles.

Getting to Claremont:

  • Airports: Ontario Airport (ONT) is about 20 minutes by taxi or shuttle (cost range $18-$23) from Claremont. Los Angeles (LAX), John Wayne/Orange County (SNA), and Bob Hope/Burbank (BUR) airports are each about an hour from Claremont. SuperShuttle (http://www.supershuttle.com/) is one of several services that will provide transportation from any of these airports to campus. Cost from airports other than Ontario is about $45.

    If you are renting a car and driving from Ontario Airport, take the I-10 West to Claremont. From Los Angeles International or John Wayne airports, you will arrive in Claremont driving east on the I-10. From the Burbank airport, you will arrive on the I-210 East. See Driving Directions, below, for directions from the freeway exit to the registration site.

  • MetroLink: MetroLink is the commuter rail system for the Greater Los Angeles Area and Southern California. Schedules and maps are available online. Claremont is on the red (San Bernardino) line. Claremont's MetroLink station is a short distance from campus. If you plan to arrive by MetroLink, contact Gale Burrow by July 19 to arrange to have someone meet you and drive you to campus.

  • Driving and Parking Directions: Your destination is the parking lot by Stark Hall dormitory, 455 East 6th Street.
    • I-10, arriving from either east or west: Take the Indian Hill/Claremont exit. Turn north (toward the mountains, follow signs for Claremont Colleges) off the exit. You will be on Indian Hill Blvd; continue north on Indian Hill for about 0.6 mile until you reach Arrow Highway). Turn right onto Arrow Highway and follow it 0.8 mile to Claremont Blvd/Mills (2nd light). Turn left onto Claremont Blvd. and follow it 0.5 mile to Sixth Street/Arrow Rte (2nd light). Turn left onto Sixth Street and proceed 0.2 mile to the STOP sign at Mills (aka "Old" Mills). Turn right into the parking lot. The registration area and residence hall will be on your left.

    • I-210, arriving from either east or west: Take the Towne Avenue exit. Turn south (away from the mountains, follow signs for Claremont Colleges) off the exit. You will be on Towne Ave.; continue south for about 0.9 mile until you reach Foothill Boulevard. Turn left on Foothill Boulevard. Continue east on Foothill for about two miles and turn right onto Claremont Blvd (5th light). Follow Claremont Blvd 0.5 mile to Sixth Street/Arrow Rte (1st light). Turn right onto Sixth and proceed o.2 mile to the STOP sign at Mills (aka "Old" Mills). Turn right into the parking lot. The registration area and residence hall will be on your left.

    • Parking on campus is free. The lot closest to the residence hall where you will be staying is located at the corner of 6th Street and "Old" Mills Ave.
