2006 DIAL-South Field Trip

Museum of Latin-American Art in Long Beach.
Sunday, July 9, 2006

PROGRAM

Admission to MOLAA was free that day and special programs were held: a family arts workshop, a live performance in the galleries, and guided tours. The exhibits could be viewed, of course, including one by renowned kinetic artist Jesus Rafael Soto. (What is Kinetic art? Kinetic art involves motion, generated by motors, by natural phenomena or by the spectator's action.) All of this activity made us hungry, so we gatheredin the cafe for lunch.

This was a child-friendly event and everyone was encouraged to bring family members, partners, friends, and co-workers.

The Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) in Long Beach, California was founded by Dr. Robert Gumbiner in November 1996. It is the only museum in the western United States that exclusively features contemporary Latin American art. Through the utilization of its permanent collection, traveling exhibitions, and programs, MoLAA educates a diverse Southern California audience about contemporary Latin American art.
