Site Requirements for SCIL Events

Business Meeting: We hold a business meeting approximately once every six weeks during the academic year. Meetings are traditionally held from 10:30 am - 1 pm. Those meetings require a conference room that will accommodate 10-15 people. The hosting institution generally provides light refreshments for the group. The hosting institution is also responsible for providing driving directions and instructions for parking procedures. Recent business meetings have been held at Pasadena City College, UCSD, and the University of Redlands.

SCIL Works : In January of each year, SCIL holds SCIL Works (formerly the Open House). For that event, 3-4 presentation rooms are needed, preferably equipped with networked computer access and projection capabilities. These rooms should seat 25-30 people. We also need a large room where the whole group (50-80 people) can meet and where a continental breakfast buffet can be catered by campus or other local food services. Open Houses have been held at UCLA and Cal State Fullerton.

Spring Program: SCIL holds an annual spring program, usually in May. The requirements for the program site vary according to the type of program being offered. Generally, we need a space where 50-75 attendees can sit at tables and focus on a speaker or panel of speakers. We may require networked computer access and projection capabilities. Programs generally last all day, so there should be a place in the meeting room or a nearby space where a continental breakfast buffet can be catered by campus or other local food services. We also provide lunch, either a catered meal in a dining room or box lunches; therefore, we need a pleasant, nearby location for that. Recent programs have been held at CSU Long Beach, The Claremont Colleges, and UC Riverside.
