Academic Culture Shock:Promoting first generation student success through psychological well being

Dr. Rosa Moreno-Alcaraz is a licensed psychologist in Counseling and Psychological Services at California State University, Long Beach. She is actively involved in the areas of individual psychotherapy, campus outreach and consultation, human relations training, Latino/a issues and clinical supervision. Areas of interest include; communication and relationship skills, human relations, sex roles and acculturation, ethnic identity development and the intersections of work and family.

Dr. Imelda Quintanar serves in the role of Retention Coordinator for First Year Programs for the Educational Opportunity Program at California State, University Dominguez Hills. In her role, she is responsible for the implementation of retention programs to ensure that students persist toward graduation at the university. She also has previous professional experience in student affairs and advising, recruitment, and in designing and implementing parent orientation programs.
